this one nearly pissed me off. i've been watching the LOTR movies (and reading the books...and playing the videogames) a hell of a lot lately, and for some odd reason, they're keeping me smiling. some of the scenes in the movies really cause me to give off a huge grin or cry happily at the end of ROTK. i really dunno what it is, but they're keeping me smiling, that's all i can say.
i've had a few of my own LOTR characters in the past, but i've grown past them and never really liked how they turned out, because they just didn't seem to fit with my imagination at the time. so i created a new one, and i think she's better than the others. this would be Angelica Breann, nicknamed Aspen, a girl from the modern world under an abusive household until she was thrown into a catatonic stage one night, and plopped into Middle Earth (which is how she got the more fantasy-like clothing in the picture).
it's a long story, one that i don't want to explain at the moment 'cause i'm really exhausted. i've read a lot of Tenthwalker fanfictions, and a lot of them kinda suck, but i don't care. i read 'em anyway because they give me a distraction when i really need one.
as for the picture, i tried my best to make it look like she had stray hairs flying in all directions, since her hair is supposed to be in a loose ponytail and slightly ruffled hair. she is abused at home, in my story, after all, so i would think her hair is rarely cared for except for being washed. i tried giving her that 'beaten innocent' type of look, but i think i only succeeded in making her look more smug than i'd intended to. grah.
also, her pose nearly made me rip my hair out. i was trying to give her a walking pose, but it would not work. i'm having difficulty drawing legs lately, so i had to use a photo reference. X_x;
if you don't like Tenthwalker/LOTR OCs, then go bite a brick. i don't give a shit.
She looks awesome. To me, the expression on her face looks wary and untrusting more than anything else, which would fit with an abused character. And I understand what you mean by LOTR keeping you happy. The whole body of work is so amazing (I love the movies most, though I've read the books.) *Admittedly, I have a crush on Viggo Mortensen/Aragorn.* The movies are our standby, and they also make me happy when I am miserable.
As for Tenthwalker fics, my friend and I once had a Tenth- and Eleventhwalker fic in the works (a half-Ent and a half-Istar/wizard) they were cool because they sort of developed their own world completely outside of LOTR in my head, and transformed into a pretty cool original story concept. So, Tenthwalker fics can be cool!

Dear Ninja: "Why do I suck at life?"
The Ninja replied: "Because you let life suck at you."
aw thank you so much! heh, yeah. LOTR always amazed me; the first book i'd read was The Hobbit, when my dad bought it for me. i had watched the movies before reading the actual books, and even though a lot of people i know have complained about the movie, i love both of them. (haha, my mother fell in love with Viggo after seeing the FOTR and now she'll go see any movie with him in it now. and i always had a crush on Elf Boy D: *fangirl*)
i like a lot of Tenthwalker fics, which is why i started my own. i didn't want to have one of those "girl meets guy, girl falls in love with guy, happily ever after" kind of story, so i spread it out a lot more. i put it on my LJ instead of FF.net to spare myself the brainless reviewers that some people get lol
i don't really know what tethwalker (or whatever is was) is but i really like lotr. and for a girl in our time to be tossed into middle earth i think would be an amazing story. and i actually like the way you drew her.
a tenthwalker fanfiction is where someone has made up their own LOTR character and thrown them into the original story, so it's basically their own character joining the Fellowship and onto the journey to Mordor heh, well i've been writing mine like crazy so yeah. i kinda like most of them *nods*
ha ha! me and my friends do that all the time and role play that out weather they are joining the fellowship or seeing to frodo before he sails with the elves! just not from our world.... from middle earth but still made up. now i follow. i think she is still very cool.
